We know the excitement of heading away to a glorious camping spot with your Zempire gear can overpower the mind’s ability to remember things… so we’ve come up with a checklist to help you out! If you’re heading away camping this summer, make sure you follow the below steps at least a week before departing to give you time to make any tweaks to your gear.
You’ll enjoy peace of mind and avoid any niggly surprises that may occur if your gear has been hibernating for the past few months. Remember if you have any questions about using your Zempire gear you can either touch base with our after sales team at [email protected] or our warranty team.
1 – GET YOUR TENT OUT
Roll your tent out and set it up to make sure there has been no damage during storage or any forgotten damage from your last camping trip. Set it up as you would at your campsite and walk around and through it to give it a good looking over. Make sure all your pegs, pumps and any poles are accounted for and put back in the tent bag.
2 - CHECK YOUR RECHARGEABLE & ELECTRICAL ITEMS
Whether you’re camping with or without power, it’s key to check all your rechargeable and electrical items before packing. Check items such as lights (Hangdomes, Lukens, Megadomes etc) and electric pumps are all in good working order and still operate correctly.
Be sure to charge your rechargeable items before storing and charge every 2 months to ensure they retain their battery memory. Don’t forget to fully charge them before you hit the road too!
3 – TEST/SERVICE COOKING EQUIPMENT
If you’ve got a Zempire stove, then you’ll be cooking with gas so be sure to test and service this equipment before hitting the road. Test and check when your gas bottle was last serviced to ensure it’s in working order, then connect it to your stove and test the burners. You don’t want to go hungry at your campsite!
4 – PACK A REPAIR KIT
While we’re super confident that our gear is built to last, accidents can happen while camping. Make sure you have an all-purpose repair kit on hand in case any mishaps occur, a basic repair kit should include:
- Seam Sealer - be sure to get the right type for your tent. Silicone-treated fabrics require a different sealer than polyurethane-coated fabrics. Your local camping specialist will be able to advise the correct type
- Scissors
- Repair tape, such as Tenacious Tape, Tear Aid etc
- Duct Tape
- Mesh repair kit
- Zip Ties (10cm)
If anything happens within your warranty period remember you are backed by a Zempire warranty and our after-sales team can be contacted to help.
5 – CHECK ALL BEDDING
A bad night’s sleep is never welcome, whether at home or camping. Be sure to check all your bedding including sleeping mats, pillows, stretchers and sheets/blankets are in good condition. If your inflatable camping mats and/or pillows have been in storage, get them out and pump them up to ensure there are no leaks. This will also serve as a good reminder on how to pack them away quickly when you’re at the campsite. Don’t forget to pack extra sheets/blankets!
6 – CHECK YOU HAVE THESE ESSENTIALS
Make sure you have packed:
- Plenty of sunscreen
- Insect repellent
- A first aid kit
- Plenty of water (or have access to it)
